When I was younger I didn't understand how to really take care of a car. I just thought you just had to put gas in it. Now I know that there are spark plugs that might need to be changed (about $30), your spark plug wires need to be changed (about $40), your tires wear out and you have to get new ones eventually (maybe about $300), Oil needs to be changed ($30), You have to buy various fluids, and on top of all that, you have to buy your registration and inspection stickers...(about $130)
I actually almost tore my car up one time. I was driving it with no transmission fluid in it. I had just got it and about a month later my dad was like, ay check those fluids.. Now here I am thinking everything was fine since I just really got the car. However that was not the case.. there was no transmission fluid on the dipstick at all. I was shocked... I was like really!!?. I learned something that day. Gotta check your fluid levels..
Now on to my tires.. I knew tires could wear out but I did not know that the thread could be shown.. I rolled my tire so far down that my freaking needles were showing. I was afraid to drive the car after that. Had to go get that tire replaced immediately. that's about 70 bucks right there.
Well I am very glad that I know now how to keep my car in good shape. I know how to change my spark plugs, wires, and oil... I must say it feels good to know how to do that stuff.. and not overpay a mechanic to do simple tasks like these..
